9/4/2017 0 Comments Sergio's Strawberry FarmCebu's very own strawberry land .. Good news. We don't have to go on a long journey just to see and experience the beauty of strawberry farms in the far-off place of Baguio City. We are all lucky because Cebu now has its very own strawberry land. Even more fortunate, it's just a three-hour drive from the city. Sergio’s Strawberry Farm is said to be Cebu's very first organic strawberry farm which is located at Maloray, Dalaguete Cebu. This farm has been hitting it big on the local tourists for quite some time now. It offers an additional refuge away from the buzzing heat in the metro.
We were a bit disappointed to see very few strawberries in the field that day. The caretaker then explained that it was because they just had completed the harvest the other day. Good thing, they let us have a free taste of some fresh strawberries - not bad for the 50-peso entrance fee, at least.
There were some parts of this quick trip that I really loved. Most of these are the amazing sceneries midway through the site. I had fun on our way to the farm. Here are some of the photos I took along the way. 9/3/2017 2 Comments Osmeña PeakHigh in the far-off mountain range of the southern part of Dalaguete - which is also on the south part of Cebu, lies the most photogenic heavenly site in the province. Osmeña Peak - the highest peak in Cebu, is still as breathtaking as the first time I had a glimpse of its awe-inspiring panoramic mountain view five years ago. With an elevation of 1000 meters above sea level, Osmeña Peak offers a rejuvenating 360-degrees of unobstructed grandeur to witness the southwestern coast of Badian Island and the nearby Negros Oriental. On top of the jagged mountain rocks and overgrown grasses and bushes alongside, the splendid and panoramic view of this peak, along with the breath of fresh air, still gives me the chills. I'm way beyond blessed to revisit this site for the second time in 5 long years. One thing I love about this time is the perfect weather and the perfect view. Last time, we didn't get the chance to witness the grand view at the top since it was a bit foggy. I didn't know what I had missed until now. It was a long weekend - the 3rd time in a consecutive row. Just then, my thirst for nature adventure comes kicking in. Good thing I had chosen this again over two other hiking spots I could go to this time. I had never been into Naga and Sirao peaks yet, but there are just so many reasons for me to go back to Osmeña Peak. One thing - NOSTALGIA. I wanted to revisit this site and reminisce the memories of my first travel here in hopes to finally, this time around, produce something creative out of this trip the way I have always wanted for the past five years. Here are throwback photos of my first visit. I was with my co-writers at TV Publication, if my memory serves me right, around March of 2012. The HIGHS and LOWS
HIGH NUMBER 2: And as we go further, we find ourselves passing through cabbage and lettuce vendors packing their harvest. Getting themselves ready for delivery may be in the town’s public market or even on neighboring markets next city. And on the very trail of the peak, we got to see cabbage fields sprawling with healthy, green vegetables almost ready for harvest.
The only low point of this trip is the precarious travel journey. First off, the habal-habal driver we contracted kept on having problems with his motorcycle unit. There was a problem with the tire, so he borrowed another unit from his fellow. But then, five minutes later, he realized the unit is out of gasoline and will surely die any minute. So we stopped in the middle of the road while he went back to the town market for a quick refill. The hot, mid-day sun was greatly doing its job. We decided to seek some shelter from the blistering heat a few blocks away. Aside from that, some parts could be hazardous when you pass through it on a rainy day. There are dangers of a landslide along the way; good thing it was a very sunny day and not a chance of raining, or else I will have doubts about the safety of the trip. OVER-ALL EXPERIENCE Taking into account all the highs and lows we got to experience along the way and on top, I could say that it was a worthy experience meant to be remembered as it is. The green scenery all over, the adrenaline in ascending high slopes to get to the peak, the rewarding view at the top, nature's fresh air, good memories from a good company. Cheers to nature's creator! |
