9/3/2017 2 Comments Osmeña PeakHigh in the far-off mountain range of the southern part of Dalaguete - which is also on the south part of Cebu, lies the most photogenic heavenly site in the province. Osmeña Peak - the highest peak in Cebu, is still as breathtaking as the first time I had a glimpse of its awe-inspiring panoramic mountain view five years ago. With an elevation of 1000 meters above sea level, Osmeña Peak offers a rejuvenating 360-degrees of unobstructed grandeur to witness the southwestern coast of Badian Island and the nearby Negros Oriental. On top of the jagged mountain rocks and overgrown grasses and bushes alongside, the splendid and panoramic view of this peak, along with the breath of fresh air, still gives me the chills. I'm way beyond blessed to revisit this site for the second time in 5 long years. One thing I love about this time is the perfect weather and the perfect view. Last time, we didn't get the chance to witness the grand view at the top since it was a bit foggy. I didn't know what I had missed until now. It was a long weekend - the 3rd time in a consecutive row. Just then, my thirst for nature adventure comes kicking in. Good thing I had chosen this again over two other hiking spots I could go to this time. I had never been into Naga and Sirao peaks yet, but there are just so many reasons for me to go back to Osmeña Peak. One thing - NOSTALGIA. I wanted to revisit this site and reminisce the memories of my first travel here in hopes to finally, this time around, produce something creative out of this trip the way I have always wanted for the past five years. Here are throwback photos of my first visit. I was with my co-writers at TV Publication, if my memory serves me right, around March of 2012. The HIGHS and LOWS
HIGH NUMBER 2: And as we go further, we find ourselves passing through cabbage and lettuce vendors packing their harvest. Getting themselves ready for delivery may be in the town’s public market or even on neighboring markets next city. And on the very trail of the peak, we got to see cabbage fields sprawling with healthy, green vegetables almost ready for harvest.
The only low point of this trip is the precarious travel journey. First off, the habal-habal driver we contracted kept on having problems with his motorcycle unit. There was a problem with the tire, so he borrowed another unit from his fellow. But then, five minutes later, he realized the unit is out of gasoline and will surely die any minute. So we stopped in the middle of the road while he went back to the town market for a quick refill. The hot, mid-day sun was greatly doing its job. We decided to seek some shelter from the blistering heat a few blocks away. Aside from that, some parts could be hazardous when you pass through it on a rainy day. There are dangers of a landslide along the way; good thing it was a very sunny day and not a chance of raining, or else I will have doubts about the safety of the trip. OVER-ALL EXPERIENCE Taking into account all the highs and lows we got to experience along the way and on top, I could say that it was a worthy experience meant to be remembered as it is. The green scenery all over, the adrenaline in ascending high slopes to get to the peak, the rewarding view at the top, nature's fresh air, good memories from a good company. Cheers to nature's creator!

Back Story: I deactivate my social media accounts a lot. It has become a habit actually. I was planning on spending another long weekend in my little room swamp with all the books I badly need to finish. But in the middle of a busy week, I was tempted to check my not-so-active old FB account just to waste some time after a full day at work. I wasn't expecting anything worthy in that feed because aside from it is an old account with an inactive friends list, it wasn't subscribed to the pages I used to spend most of my time whenever I'm on Facebook. Not until I stumbled into an FB event confirmation post of a close friend. The photo banner used in the event thread irked up my interest. It was a hike for a cause. Without batting an eye, I clicked on the post and checked the details. Just then, I decided to join the event, and the rest is history. About Akyat Serye: Hike for a CauseAkyat Serye was a hike for a cause activity to help the children of Tuyan, Naga, who experienced a great deal of water shortage. The said event was organized in cooperation with Team Bang - Cebu, The Bisaya Traveler, and other hike enthusiasts in Cebu to gather donations like school supplies, sanitation items, etc., from the interested participants. On our way to Temple of Leah, I had the chance to talk to some of the organizers and learned that some of them are Engineering students from CIT. The Akyat Serye ExperienceI literally have no idea about the difficulty level of the trail. I was quite worried that I couldn't make it to the end, considering that this was my comeback hike after some time. But since it was an event for a cause and was open for many joiners, I thought that maybe the hike would be fairly easy. Or so I thought. It was, unfortunately, quite a struggle. I remembered a lot of times I felt I couldn't proceed any further. But we were all halfway to the destination, and there's no use turning back. After a quick orientation, we started walking from the left of the church, going to the Brgy. Napo, which then served as the jump-off point of the hike. Right there and then, an immediate steep climb welcomed us. A trail followed it with numerous ascents by the edge of a mountain.
4/9/2017 0 Comments Bantayan 2k17I'm not a big fan of the beach. I mean I'd probably just take photos of the sunset, the waves and the view. My favorite part being on the beach are the exhilarating moments when the morning sun rises from the horizon, the soft, colorful hue of the sky during sunset, and the relaxing view of the starlit sky just after. I desperately needed a break from all the chaos that life has offered me. I needed an escape, even just for a while. Good thing I had the chance to go here and leave all the extra stress in the city. I've got what I desperately needed. It was a spontaneous trip with a whole bunch of people I don't even know. I was that desperate that I gatecrashed a friend's team building outing. New place. Strangers. Long trips. Good music. The sunset. The sound of the ocean waves. The starry night sky. The color of the twilight sky. The cool midnight wind. The coarse feeling of the sand on my feet. The sunrise on the morning after that. The scorching heat of the sun. The horizon. The view, the memories, oh I could stay there forever. ❤❤❤ 7/18/2016 0 Comments CordovaOne day it just clicks.
You realize what's important and what isn't. You learn to care less about what other people think of you and more about what you think of yourself. You realize how far you've come and you remember when you thought things were such a mess that you'd never recover. And then you smile. You smile because you are truly proud of yourself and the person you've fought to become. (c) 07.18.16. 3/14/2016 0 Comments Carcar, Cebu"Cause really, we all just need a break!" A day off from reality - away from people, from problems, from situations that consume us every single day.
A break from the usual routine, is the very thing we need. 03/13/2016 2/21/2016 0 Comments Azienda Milan1/29/2016 0 Comments Cordova it is.Just some random keepsake photos 'cause it's my first time here. Haha :D
The seafood - GREAT. The morning view - GREAT. 9/29/2015 0 Comments Bohol 20152/1/2015 0 Comments AlcoyI wasn't actually part of the original group to explore Siloy birds in Alcoy that time, but knowing I'd always crave for adventures, my Baoks family insisted I'd go with them.
I remembered I was in the middle of my internship duties that time and I was supposed to report to school on that Saturday, but yeah, I took the chance and explored Alcoy with the Baoks family. It was such a refresher, a break form my usual routines and away from stresses brought about by my internship. The long ride, the fresh air, the green scenery, the bonding, the laughters, the road, everything was memorable. |
